AVID 12 / Film as LIterature

About the class…

The senior AVID elective has been combined with a Film as Literature class.

Film as Literature

AVID 12

Film as Literature helps provide an additional focus for students to use AVID strategies and work collaboratively using technology.  Students will study a variety of film genre.  They will write essays on films, post critiques in an online discussion forum, learn filming techniques, and produce films which they write, act, direct, and edit.  Additionally, students will make Public Service Announcement videos for the school's Falcon News Youtube Channel.
AVID 12 is the capstone class for the AVID Program.  The course engages students in analytical and argumentative writing, collaborative activities, reading strategies and vocabulary development in order to prepare the student for college level work.  In addition, the course guides the students through placement exams, applying to college, and applying for financial aid.
