English 12A

English 12A is designed for students who need extra help with their English communication skills.  The emphasis will be on developing strong reading and writing skills.  To that end, students will read a variety of texts from a variety of genre.  Students will learn critical reading strategies including Marking the Text and Writing in the Margins.  Additionally, the class will focus on organizational skills such as two column notes system of studying.  Some topics of inquiry are current events, career investigation, 

Students are expected to maintain a notebook with tabs for:

1. Notes
2. Writing
3. Handouts

This class meets the minimum requirements for graduation.  Students who plan to go to college are encouraged to take English 12B.  English 12A does not meet college A-G requirements.

Class Policies

Students are expected to behave like young adults and be responsible.  Additionally, these are specific rules which apply to the class.

1. No Late Work is Accepted
2. If a student is absent, the student must email any work due the day of the absence to Mr. Ricketts before the end of the day, or it is late and not accepted.  [email protected]
3. Students should seek solutions not problems.
4. No food or drink (water ok).
